A native of Huntsville, Alabama, Phill joined the staff of NACBA in June, 2000 as Director of Education. In March of 2006 he became the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Association. Phill has completed twenty-four years serve in various position of ministry in the local church, most recently as Associate Pastor of Administration of Richardson First Baptist Church, Richardson, Texas . For twelve years he served as Senior Educator/Administrator Richardson First Baptist Church, Richardson, Texas . For twelve years he served as Senior Educator/Administrator of .South Main Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. In addition, he has served First Baptist Church, Chamblee, Georgia (now John's Creek Baptist Church), South Avondale Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama and First Baptist Church in Richmond, Texas
Phill graduated from Samford University, where he earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree. He received a Master of Arts in Religious Education from Southwestern Seminary and has done post-graduate work at the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Administration at Rice University. He was ordained to the gospel ministry by Broadway Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. He is a Certified Association Executive through the American Society of Association Executives.
Phill is certified as a Certified Church Administrator(CCA) by the NACBA and prior to working for the association served on its board as Central Area Vice President and Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communication. He is the original developer of the Association's website and continues to serves as webmaster.
Active in his faith community, he has served as an elected officer of the Phill served as President of the Southern Baptist Church Business Administrator Association and holds their certification. He has served on the Business and Audit Committee of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. Active in the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, he has held its top elected position as Moderate of the governing board 2002-03. He previously served as an at large member of its Coordinating Council chairing the Communication and Marketing Ministry Group. In addition he has served on their Information System Task Force to develop technology strategies for the organization and chaired the local arrangement committee for the 1998 Houston General Assembly. For three years, Gloria and Phill served as member care counselors for mission personnel serving primarily in Eastern Europe.
Phill is a member of the American Society of Training and Development ,International Coaching Federation, and the American Society of Association Executives
He and his wife Gloria have two daughters, Lauren, a Georgia Tech Industrial Engineer with a global MBA from UTD works in the corporate office of Michael's Corporation, in Irving, TX and Andrea, a University of Texas in Austin Nutrition Major , lives in North Richland Hills and works with WIC as a nutritional counselor. Gloria holds the Masters of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from University of Houston – Clearlake and has a private practice.
